About Steve Williams

Since my early years as a child, photography and people have always fascinated me. Through my work I have been able to take this and find a way to capture the essence of the people and businesses I work with through film. I love having a job that allows me to express my creativity and create stories whether it is in stills or film media.

Photography still thrills me and I am as passionate about it today as much as when I picked up my first camera. The technology has changed dramatically over this time, but the principles and joy remain. I always aim to deliver results I am proud of; embracing new technology, trying new ideas and techniques and setting myself demanding standards to ensure I achieve the very best for my clients.

My job offers me an amazing insight into an incredibly varied world; one that I’d perhaps never have got to see. One minute I am in a helicopter or flying a drone to capture aerial shots and the next I can be travelling to a new country or attending a PR job with a famous celebrity or government official, or inside a major PLC’s boardroom. Each job brings about its own unique challenges, delivering against these is why I love it so much.

I pride myself on my professionalism, creativity and effort as well as humour and understanding exactly what the client expects at all times.

1. What do you love about your job?

I love the everyday challenges and the variety of situations I find myself faced with. Also my job offers fantastic opportunities to travel the world and meet people I’d never have had the chance to without a camera in my hand.

2. Who inspires you?

Game changers, people who aren’t afraid to change the way things are done like Steve Jobs and Martin Luther King.

3. What are your passions?

My family, my football club and my work, I still look forward to each day, thinking about how to get the best out of each assignment, embracing new technology and learning new ways in which I can approach my work really keeps that passion alive. Also the satisfaction in knowing you’ve given everything to achieve the best possible result for a customer.

4. What's your worst working day?

Admin days, I feel the world is passing me by, and I should be doing something else.

5. What are your interests away from work?

Live music, anything to do with football from watching through to coaching, BBC radio channels four and six, film, travel and spending quality time with my amazing family and friends.

6. Favourite film /tv show?

American dramas that break the mould, Hill St Blues, ER, Sopranos, The West Wing, Breaking Bad, and House of Cards, I thought Utopia was an amazing show on C4 as well.

7. What makes you smile?

Man City winning, being with funny people and being at the dinner table with my family.

I've worked with Steve for years now and he's one of our most trusted, reliable photographers. He's head and shoulders above anyone else for his ability to put people at ease in front of a camera and get the best out of who he's shooting.

Amie

1. What do you love about your job?

My favourite part about my job is that it varies so much from day to day, I never feel like I’m standing still.

2. Who inspires you?

Tina Fey is a actress, comedian, writer, producer, working mother and source of inspiring wisdom such as: ‘Laugh more, it burns calories’.

3. What are your passions?

I’m passionate about stories. The stories I tell through my own work, the stories I hear from my friends and family, or the stories I watch unfolding on the screen and stage.

4. What's your worst working day?

My worst working day would be spent entirely at my desk. Possibly trying to work out how to use a spreadsheet.

5. What are your interests away from work?

Away from work I enjoy exploring new cities, avoiding cooking by rooting out the best local restaurants, running and watching as many films, documentaries and plays as I possibly can.

6. Favourite film /tv show?

It’s a tough choice but I think The Sopranos has yet to be beaten in the television stakes, it was an utterly fearless show that I can’t help returning to time and time again. And my favourite film since I was ten year’s old? Jurassic Park.

7. What makes you smile?

My friends make me smile.

Tom

1. What do you love about your job?

That every day is different, no two projects are the same to work on.

2. Who inspires you?

Movie makers like Ridley Scott, Frank Darabont & Quentin Tarantino.

3. What are your passions?

Travel, I love to see different parts of the world. Why go away to the same place each year when you could explore the world?

4. What's your worst working day?

When the opening line is “it’s really simple” you just know it’s going to be a long day.

5. What are your interests away from work?

I don’t really see my photography as work, so typically my interests will involve a camera in some way! I’m also a crazy cat man, so putting photos of my cats on the internet is a real passion for me :)

6. Favourite film /tv show?

If I had to name one favourite film, it would be Pulp Fiction - I’m a big fan of story telling and piecing together the segments from different times.

Mark

1. What do you love about your job?

“Find the job you love and you’ll never work again” seems to sum up exactly how I feel about my job.

2. Who inspires you?

Any photographer who produces work I like inspires me. There will always be the classic photographers like Irving Penn, Cartier-Bresson and Arnold Newman whose work I never get tired of looking through. The internet has made so many more less famous photographers accessible the likes go Joey L, Jeremy Cowart and David Hobby I spend a lot of my time looking at the huge resource of images on the net.

3. What are your passions?

I am passionate about documentary and portrait photography. Working with people and telling a story in one, or a series of photographs is always a thrill.

4. What's your worst working day?

I’ve never really had a ‘worst’ day, just situations where things have turned out differently than anticipated and required a different approach.

5. What are your interests away from work?

Apart from photography the only other passion I have is riding my motorcycle, especially on the small secluded backroads of the Scottish Borders, fantastic!

6. Favourite film /tv show?

Bladerunner. Didn’t quite get it when I first saw it at the movies but it has since become my favourite movie of all time, the lighting in it is fantastic.

7. What makes you smile?
